While changing gears a couple of days ago, I heard a little "clink", like a penny dropping on the floor. Since then, the shifter feels loose. It still engages gears at all the right spot, but there is some front to back play in it and it doesn't feel secure.
Where do I start to investigate? Under the car, or through the shifter boot? I know how to get the center shifter cover (wood panel) off, but don't know what it looks like past that. Any help would be appreciated in order for me to save wasted time and frustration in my task ahead. |
