1994 E500 Insurance Valuation Redux

You may recall that I started a thread in October about my "new" car getting smashed at a stop light on the Spring Garden Street bridge in Philly. Well, most of my concerns have turned out to be non-issues and I thought I'd just post what the outcome was.

The other driver's insurance company is State Farm. They accepted a value of $17000 for the car. They paid out close to ten grand for the repairs to my car. The repairs included a new hood, one new fender, a new radiator, ac condenser, all three fans, headlights, grill, headlight wipers, and new radiator/hood support brackets, which had to be welded in. I'm sure I've left something out, but you get the picture. The fenders and hood and the brackets were painted, as was the bumper, which miraculously survived.

Looking at the car, it is impossible to see that it was in head on collision. It looks very good (I'll post pics this weekend if it stops raining) and after I get it detailed, I'm sure it will look even better.

I've taken the car on a couple of trips in the three weeks I've had it back, both to Stamford, CT. I don't know how many of you know the Merritt, but man was this car sweet on that road. The curves are just enough to test the suspension at speed, and the nutty traffic gave me plenty of opportunities to test the brakes and the accelerator. Everything was fantastic. Every time I drive the car, it gets better it seems. (except the gas mileage, I should say, that stays the same).
