Question 2000 ML320 stuck in park : (

My 2000 ML 320 is stuck in park. I replaced the brake pedal switch but its still stuck in park. I have use the Pen trick to put it into drive to move it temporarily. I checked all fuses and my brake lights work. What else can I check/try?
Thanks. Jay

The solenoid is your issue. Their is a youtube on how to fix it, but you need to take the shifter out..

Before you play with the shifter, block the tires so the car does not roll, and disconnect the shifter linkage. Manually actuate the shifter arm on the transmission to see if indexes in all positions .
