I bought a used 98' ml320 for my wife. It looks and runs great and I'm happy with the price I paid. I've noticed though that when going over any bump I hear the suspension creak. I got underneath it and if I rock the truck, it sounds like it is coming from the control arms. I did a search on the tech forum and found many messages about replacing control arm bushings. This truck has 44000 miles, would they go bad that fast? (improperly lubricated) I believe the truck is still under warranty. Should these be covered? I wouldn't consider a bushing a 3year consumable item, ya think MB would?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Marc |

A friend of mine with a ’98 ML had a similar problem. In short, the problem would be covered by the OEM or a Starmark warranty. As to why it happened, it was one of many, um, "issues" with the early production MLs....

If it's from the front it's more than likely a ball joint.
If it's the rear it's probably a shock. Gilly |
