1997 E420 Blower INOP
Hello, all.
The climate control fan on my mother's 1997 E420 is not blowing, no matter what setting the system is on. According to her, the fan did come on, briefly (like a few seconds) once after going over a bump, but has not operated since. Interestingly, this happened immediately after it got out of a body shop. We're not really willing to take it back there, either. Long story. Anyway, I've been looking over some past threads (found through Google) and I'm beginning to think the problem may with with the regulator, but I was hoping for some confirmation of that suspicion. Also, where precisely is the blower motor on this thing? Behind the glove box? Under the dash? Any thoughts on how to fix this? We're in Chicago, and I don't like the idea of my mother driving around in a car with barely any heat. Thank you in advance. Kyle |

The blower motor and regulator are under the passenger side knee footwell and are accessed by removing the cloth covered panel above your knees.
Failed regulators are common on W210s; I believe yours is not repalceable individually but would reguire and new reg, new mounting plant and new blower. You should test yourr blower to cofirm it is working and the reg too as the problem could also be the CCU controler.
