2005 CLK 320 Major Coolant Leak
Hi,
My friend showed me today his 2005 CLK 320 with 56K miles (just past the warranty of 50K) and a major coolant leak. We found nothing wrong with the hoses. The coolant just runs down from under the water pump, not dropswise but in fine thread such as water from a slightly turned-on tap. When we tried to start the engine, the water pump starts wobbling after a minute. Am I right in my guess that the water pump is broken? If yes what repair cost is he looking at? 1K? I suggested to replace the water pump ourselves, but he is doubtful that can be done as a DIY job. Any comments? Thanks!
