I'm searching for a replacement climate control unit for my 92 400se. I located a used one but the vin # is for A074423 -

My question is...

Does anyone know what the difference is between the
VINs
-A-074422
A074423-

Is the latter one only for activated charcoal filter only?

Are the units interchangable?

ANY 1992-95 W140 chassis can use the same controller! The later number the better! THE last number(BEST) is 140-830-20-85! MANY places rebuild them!

I (accidentally) ordered p/n 140-830-0885 to replace the badly damaged one in my car, which is VIN#WDBGA32E7RA151820. The packaging says that if i open it, it cannot be returned, so I can't just try it and see.

Should I send this unit back for the correct one, or does the above sentiment that they will all work applicable here? Thanks very much in advance.

You didn't list your model year of your S-Class. I guess I could figure it out by looking up the VIN you have listed, but I would trust M.B.DOC advise regarding the units will work 92-95 climate control. "ANY 1992-95 W140 chassis can use the same controller"
