Question 87 420 sel gasser

guys and girls,

just got myself into a 87 420 and of course love the ride....

prob is gf smells fuel and i just had a leak repaired at a shop in austin, tx

is it normal to smell gasoline if an engine hasnt been run all that often?

the fuel leak from what i know was repaired and done well with no evidence of any further leakage

any thoughts?
