yesterday to keep an eye on what might be leaking. Since I've bought the car, I've fixed 2 minor coolant leaks and am looking at replacing 2 power steering return lines soon (both are rotting).

I took out the pan and used a plastic putty knife to literally scrape the accumlutated gunk off the pan. Now, I'll know a fresh leak as opposed to guessing what or if something is leaking.

While underneath the engine, I saw what appeared to be a leaking freeze plug (slight seepage). If indeed this is the cause of a leak, how would I go about repairing it? Thanks!

That looks like a pipe threaded fitting. Remove, clean the threads with a wire brush and reinstall with plumber's pipe dope. Probably teflon would be best. When reinstalling give it plenty of torque, it will take more than you think.

That looks like the block drain plug on my M111. You could try to just tighten it. Or, remove it as tom suggests, clean it and then re install. I'm not sure what the plug seats against to seal, not sure if teflon would seal it or not.

in the 124, you just unscrew them and screw them back in... i guess teflon wouldn't hurt...

It should be a metal-on-metal seal. Teflon tape won't help at all.

That's the engine block coolant drain plug ... tighten it. If you loosen it you're going to drain all the coolant from the engine block. When/if you want to drain coolant from the engine block use a piece of clear tubing over the plug to a bottle/drain pan ... prevents a wet mess under the car.
