How do you take the wood cover off from the consol on the 129 series? I am replacing the plastic around the shift lever with the wood variation and ned to get in to remove the shift and the plastic that the wood is replacing. Figure that I need to remove the wood center consol cover first. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you have to remove the ash tray, and remove two screws.

Thanks, I did that..removed the ashtray and the 2 screws..one side (the right) frees up backtowards the seats, but the left doesn't. I don't want to force anything for fear of cracking the wood.

I think you will find it necessary to also remove the radio and the climate control unit so that you can slide the wood downward and then out.
