Attention all shop manual owners!
Hi guys. My engine has been misfiring for a while, and I've replaced the ignition coils, spark plug wires, and spark plugs, which haven't fixed the problem. I'm now going to test all of my sensors that are connected to the front and back of the engine. If anyone has the shop manual, I would much appreciate if you could post for me the voltage test values for all the sensors that might cause the engine to not run properly, such as the throttle positioning sensor, coolant temperature sensors, etc. Thank you so much!

What is the condition of your wiring.
I am not sure of the 93's, but the wiring on the 94-95 series causes all kinds of problems. Misfiring and rough running were the symptoms I had. Rebuilding the engine harness and the ETA harness returned the engine to smooth running. I first rebuilt the engine harness which made the car partially bearable to drive. Rebuilding the harness attached to the Electronic Throttle Actuator eliminated misfires altogether. A telltale sign of ETA problems is the loss of Cruise control functionality. Check that out first.

The 93's have the same problem. I spent two weekends last summer rebuilding the wiring harness and TA harness on my 93 3.2l 300E.

I tested out my cruise control, it still works perfectly; does that mean my ETA is fine?
Also, I haven't gotten around to testing those sensors yet, I will soon, but is it possible that if one or some of those are bad, that that's the source of the problem and I won't have to replace the wiring harness? I've searched for the harness online and it's around $800... a bit pricey for me at the moment. Thanks guys. |
