124 door handle and latch --urgent!
Ok, much frustration!! My drivers door latch completely ceased latching yesterday so I drove 35 miles home holding my door closed. With a five speed manual, in traffic, it was a challenge!
Get home start disassembling, I now have the outside handle loose but cannot remove and the latch itself seems to be hanging just off of the tumbler device for the key lock. Yet, I can get no further and of course can barely see in there by hunkering over and looking up, which cannot be done when my hands are in there!! No joy on multiple seraches here and the MBCA site. No joy on mulitple searches in my MB CD set for the 124. No joy in looking through my 124 Bible (Stu Ritter's manual). Anybody done this? Help! I now have three vehicles non-operational and I'm running out of transportation!!
