W204 Right Rear Brake Dust
I'm having excessive brake dust on my right rear wheel. The fronts have an equal amount of dust. I've had german cars all my life so I'm familiar with german brake dust. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows what the fix is? I have not hit the ESP once, so I know it's not the ESP that's causing it. Any ideas?
Thanks. |

Pull the pads, clean them, put a chamfer on the leading & trailing edges, lube the parts that the pads slide on in the caliper, that's it.
When you remove the pads, see if the inside is worn much more than the outside or vice versa. P.S. If it takes you more than a few minutes to do this, you're a Slacker. ![]()

I'm wondering.......my 08 Rabbit gets a lot of dust on the rears, NOT so much on the fronts. The braking is very flat, very little dive, and also has brake-assist like the newer MBs. I'm wondering if there is some sort of difference in the way brake pressure is applied on these newer German cars, i.e. more pressure applied to the rears or something, to prevent dive, or since the rears stay cooler......it's just an unusual and increasingly-common characteristic of the newer cars

Isn't the car still under warranty? Why do anything yourself? You paid good money for the car that includes warranty service. Take it to the dealer and let them determine what is wrong, if anything.
