W210 SOS disable help needed
2001 E320, I removed the factory phone, now getting SOS error message in the display. Is there a way to disable the error message? Thanks Rollin

You need to have the system recoded to remove the option. This requires SDS. The dealer will have this. A very good indy might.

Thats correct, they will need to change the coding in the cluster to tell it that car doesn't have Tele-Aid. You may have to sign something proving you requested this to be done for liabily, legality, etc.

The factory phone and the teleaid phone are two separate units. The standard message that appears about teleaid is for the fact that the service subscription has run out. If that were the case the option can be deleted (with suitable liability waiver) in the cluster.
If one removes any piece of the optical network D2B, one will need to bridge it and reconfigure it. I am guessing that due to the removal of a D2B component the D2B network is broken and all that is required is to reconfigure it (and bridge the gap incurred with the component removal). |
I removed the tele-aid myself without reprogramming the cluster. I simply disconnected the box in the trunk. You'll need either skinny arms or a high pain threshold. The box is on the driver's side basically above the wheel well. At the same time I also removed the button, disconnected the wires and put the button back in. This was on our 2000 E320. The display doesn't show any errors any more :)

I have not had any problems on my 01 but pushed the damm button by mistake once (to see if anyone would answer), and could not shut it up. I did pull the fuse and and got the error message, put it back. MB claims they can disable, I have not had it in for service
