CJ,

Yes, Red Line Diesel Catalyst or Stanadyne or Power Service products are good. Red Line being my favorite. Lubro Moly is also good, but not as good as Red Line.

I use diesel purge for direct cleaning and last night just tried Techron, I have only used Techron in my gas cars, but it can be used for diesels, which I did not know. Does Redline make a product like diesel purge?

I have seen many posts about Techron being good. Several times saw comments that it can "get into the oil" so I add it just before oil change. Haven't a clue as to the real value to my engine or the "into oil" idea.

During the 18 years I drove my W123 300TD, the M.B. dealer recommended adding a full bottle of Red Line diesel additive to every full tank of fuel since the diesel quality here is the worst in the world.

The Red Line worked excellent, saving a lot of problems that plagued many other 300D/TD's that did not use it.

Hi Nic, Techron is primarily a solvent, therefore excess amounts can wash by rings and get into the oil. A little more than is recommended is a bad idea! High temperature detergents that Redline has here at Mercedesshop are better, but again use as directed. My biased view only. Roger
