My first long distance trip with the 1996 E320
I've just had a trip Dallas - San Antonio - Houston - Galveston - Houston - Dallas with 1051 miles including 100+/- miles city driving.
The car runs great for its 12 years of age. I can't complain about the fuel economy at all. Total gas comsumption was 40 gallons, thus a gas mileage of 26 mpg. Before the trip I wanted to replace the spark plugs, cables and ingnition coils, hoping for better gas mileage but did not manage. Now I think it cannot be improved much. The gas mileage I am having is even specified for new cars of that model year. One thing is to be mentioned though; a few days before I added cerma liquid ceramic Cerma Organic to engine oil and noticed smoother idle. Maybe there was some benefits from that product, which David Poole of European Performance in Dallas recommended to me. I'd like to hear your opinion about that too, before using it for transmission, differentials and power steering.

Don't bother with additives. Just use good synthetic oil, like Mobil 1.

When I had my 1993 300E (3.2) "E320", I had several all freeway jaunts to Las Vegas, and I regularly got 26 mpg.

26 sounds right for mixed, mostly freeway driving. If I run a tank of gas strictly freeway, it's usually 28-30mpg. Strictly city is usually 22-24.
How many miles are on the car?

The car has now 135K. In mixed driving 35% city and 65% highway I got only 20-21 mpg.

I consistently get 19-20 mpg in all-city driving in my 97 E320. Not bad for a full-sized sedan of this calibre if you ask me. I've never taken it on an all-highway trip; it's good to know I'd be pushing the mid- to upper- twenties.

I have experienced similar results in my 96 E320.

as you can see the overwhelming sentiment is one of disbelief.the product is so good that until you try it the claimed results are very hard to believe.you may remember that when your car was finished on the rack and after the cerma was added you got in your car and tried to restart even though the engine was running.

I've never heard of Cerma before. If it makes a car idle that quietly, that IS impressive. That sounds impressive in and of itself. If it improves mileage, that's a bonus, it would seem to me.

These W210s sure aren't W124s, and I never thought I'd say it, but they really are wonderful, durable cars in their own way!

you havn't heard of it because it's about six weeks from national launch.i have been working with the inventor[here in texas] who has poured 11 yrs into it's development.i have seen literally dozens of additives over the yrs and it's really refreshing to find one that does EVERYTHING that it claims.

The theory behind the product sounds ridiculous:
"Cerma Ceramic metal treatments utilize the metal of the current conventional engine design, Cerma then impregnates the metal with Micro particulates of Ceramic Lubrication, Cerma then requires the existing Carbon & acids within the engines oil to complete the Transformation of Cerma products to a smooth ceramic seal within the metal back bone of your engine. Maybe its the "micro particles of ceramic lubrication." |
