Window problems Help!

I have my rear window mechanisms half way out of my 1984 300TD. All the nuts, bolts, screws and wires have been disconnected, but I can't get the damn thing out of the door. There is a metal rod running across the inside of the door that seems to be in the way. I guess this would be the side door reinforcement the US DOT requires.

How do I get the motor and regulator out of there? There doesn't seem to be anything else that I can take apart to make the pieces small enough.

Try hooking the power back to the regulator. In a certain position,,, full down probably,,, it should come out one of the openings.

No, it's still in there. I put it all back together this afternoon until I have more time to work on it.

I got everything loose. I just couldn't get it out through the opening on the inside of the door.

It has to come out. Next time, disconnect the regulator from the glass, and duct tape the glass in the up position. Make sure the regulator is in the down position, and it will come out. If the glass is in the bottom of the door it will never happen.

You have to move or remove the brace for the upper fixed window on a 300SD; assume it may be same for this one.

That sounds like the piece I also unscrewed. I got the bottom of it loose from the door, but couldn't tell what the top was attached to. It appeard to be part of the window track which extends down inside the door.

That's the one. Get it out of the way and the regulator will come out.

I'll try that again tomorrow. It didn't seem to want to move when I took the screw out and I was afraid of forcing it, didn't want to bend anything.
