C230K 02 - Engine cold start rattling sound?

Recently I've noticed that my car started making this rattling/griding sound on cold starts only. The sounds comes from the engine immediately after its started and lasts for a second, then goes away. It usually happens only after the car was sitting overnight.
I've done my research, and read about the timing chain tensioner. Looks like my problem. But I was wondering, is there any way to diagnose it without going into the engine?
And the second question. If this is indeed the tensioner, in order to replace it I need to remove the supercharger. I have the service manual, and the instruction mentions "lifting the engine". The engine number, however, does not match with mine in the step when that particular procedure is mentioned (so looks like it does not apply to me). But I'd like to make sure - do I have to anything like that to remove the supercharger in my car?
Should anything else, like the chain guides, is recommended to replace along with the tensioner?

Tensioner is most likely the problem (99%).
Replacement requires supercharger removal.

You should start by removing the valve cover & doing a good visual inspection

rattle noise in 2002 C230K

My 2002 C230K does the same thing. A DTB from MB # P-B-05.20/14, dated Nov 30,2004 says it is due to the oil bleeding from the camshaft adjuster after an overnight (or longer) sit. They say it is not a problem, normal operation of the engine.

Hm, even it is considered a normal operation, I'm still inclined to fix it, just due to the fact the sound wasn't there before. Besides, I have oil traces where the intake cover is connected to the supercharger, looks like the supercharger gasket. Will get it done at the same time.
Thanks for the suggestions!
