1987 300E stall problem

My car 1987 300e has a frustrating intermittant problem (often once a day but sometimes every few days) engine shuts off usually within the first 3-5 minutes after starting. I occurs mostly under load but a few times on decceleration. It then turns over but will NOT restart till I wait about 2-3 minutes. After that the car runs great..

Its has 250k miles and I did change the fuel filter recently. Problem went away for a week but now is back again.
