eng. shocks, how hard to change
My neighbor just bought a car like mine, a 1980 300SD, and it's engine shocks are shot. The one on the pass. side of the block is completely out of it's mount. Now maybe it is just the mounts that need replacing, well actually they definetly need replacing since the shocks tore through them. Eitherway, how much of a project is it, for those who have done it.

This is a diyer type of job. Be prepared to get dirty though and pay close attention to the location of the rubber bushings that the shocks mount through.

It is definitely a DIY job, although a filthy dirty one.
What I want to ad is that you should make sure the motor mounts are okay. If it has jumped around enough to come loose the mounts might be shot. Good luck, |

I went to "Fastlane" and looked up the price for these shocks and they are about $35 a piece. The picture of the shocks show it to be a cylinder with 2 equal length rods sticking out of it. Now, Fastlane also lists "engine shock mount kit", is it possible that the shocks are ok but that the mounts fell apart? The mount kit is about $18. I don't know if that's for one side or both.
