W124 Code 26 - Help...
..."transmission upshift delay". The problem is I kind of like the tranny not/not staying in second so long in the morning. I understand the engineering that went into this design, but is it necessary? I just take it easy and it smoothly, effortlessly, shifts up. BUT... a code's a code and I'm willing to trouble shoot a little now that I have access to a lift. I need to do a neutral safety switch and a transmission service soon, so I might just add another hour and do my detective work. My guess is it's related to a vacuum leak someplace. But as I said, it all seems to be working perfectly. BTW - I must admit I have a piece of electrician's tape over the CEL, so I go weeks without even thinking about it!
Anyone have any experience with this particular code? P.S. Until now I have been a 'lurker' here, spending most of my time at that "other" Benz forum. __________________ Scott in MD/DC 94 E320 Wagon (Just getting broken in) 95 C280 (RIP) 87 190E (Sold) |

Shift delay is cat warm-up emmissions device.
Most likely suspect is acuator element at trans cable. See if green vac line from SOV holds a hand pump vac. Archieves has many post on code 26 diagnosis
