Trunklock replacement - 126 chassis
I am trying to replace the lock mechanism in the trunk of my 85 300sd. I have the old lock out and now I can not get the new one back through the hole to connect it. On the old lock it appeared that the arm with ball connection operated in the lower positions and the new lock moves in the upper positions. I am not talking about the brass rod that is treaded and 4-5 inches long. Should I take this arm with the ball off and try to reverse it or do I have the wrong lock. For what it is worth, the old lock arm has a 1 stamped on it and the lock housing has a 2 on it. The new lock has a 2 on both. I ordered this part from MB dealer. Thanks for any help you can offer.
