Swapping seats between a 1991 and 1988 300CE

The seats in my 1988 300 CE are beginning to weather a little bit. The passenger seat has a pretty large tear in it and the drivers seats has a 'gansta lean to towards the door (worn out springs.)

I located a pair of 1991 300 CE seats that are identical in leather color; they are gorgeous and are selling for $350.

Can I pull out my current seats and install the new 1991 seats with no problems? My current seats have heat, power adjustments, and orthopedic controls (which do not work.)

The new 1991 seats have the same wiring harnesses, but do not have the orthopedic controls. I can provide VIN numbers from my car and the car the seats came from if that would help us find a solid answer.

Any thoughts or help would be sincerely appreciated!

All the best and thanks!

Jeremy

The seat heaters & ortho seat bladders are built into the cover/ cushion. The seats themselves should be a direct bolt in. But if the replacements don't have heaters or ortho backs you wont be able to swap those features from seat to seat w/o out a lot of trouble.

beautiful looking 300ce.

I would think the seats would fit fine.

I plan on making a new office chair outta a benz seat if and when I ever get around to spending the cash on a seat. hehe since you will have two, you could have a very nice comfy office chair that reminds you of driving your benz.

Alon & MB Doc,

Thanks for the positive feedback! Alon-wow..your 300ce is sweeeet!

How might I tell if the new seats from the 1991 300ce have heaters or not?

Do I need any special tools or instruction (removing fuses first, etc..)

Did the 1991 300ce have different power adjustments, thus, causing a communication problem between the 88 door controls and the seat's input?

If all of these are still a go, this looks to be a very promising swap, considering the cost of leather repair. New seats, new armrests, cool!

Thanks for all of your help!

Jeremy

My car has no heated seats, I'm kind of glad it doesn't get cold enough here in los angeles to warrant needing them.

I would look at the connectors on your seats, and then look att he connectors nt he seats you plan on buying.

That should help you figure out if they will just plug right in with your existing stuff.
