No spark

new MB owner of 3 1984 190E 2.3 / 1988 300E and last purchase 1991 300TE 4MATIC. The problem is with the 1991 300TE. I have owned the car for 3 months now and apart from minor repairs, new resonator, changed the fuel pumps and cosmetic things the car has been perfect. I recently sent it to my body shop to do some touch ups around the car nothing serious. He drove the car out of the shop so he could finish putting things back together, he did this without any problems. We went to pick up the car and it would not start. The battery was dead, he had the doors open for aweek without disconnecting the bar=ttery. We put cables on it it turned over fine but would not start. Put gas in the intake still would not start. Checked for spark, hello no spark. Apart from the ignition module would anyone have any suggestions/ideas? As mentioned the car ran great, no leaks, missfires nothing, nada. We have put at least 2,000 miles on it since ownership.

Sorry for venting but it does get frustrating at times. Any and all help is appreciated. Great forum, Great cars.

Most likely the ignition module...But, first you can test the crank sensor for resistance & then for A/C output signal.

The crank sensor will generate approx 0.5V a-c while operating the starter motor.

changed the module, no spark. changed the coil, no spark. went back to basics, removed the distributor cap to check the rotor condition and if it was turning, when we turn the motor over their were sparks flying off the coil wire, it had gotten worn but we could not see at the time because the area was hidden but we could hear the sparks. replace the wire and all is well. a new set is on order for all 3 of my mbs. Again thank you for your assistance.
