W140 Door Adjustment

1997 S-500. Is there a way to adjust how far in the close assist pulls the door? The rear passanger door is rattling and it is making me CRAZY! It doesn't appear to be any trim. The hinges look good, screws are tight.....

Maybe the gap opened up and allowed the door to rattle because the door seals got dried out and shrank? Maybe if you give them a blast of silicone spray they will expand back out to their normal size again?

But hey, what do I know? When I was restoring my Porsche 356, I took the doors off and didn't keep track of where the hinge shims went. Did you ever calculate the number of combinations and permutations there are for 12 shims?

I have done the silicon paste on the door seals, but does not help. There has to be a way to adjust the door.
Anyone?
