99 c280 power seats
I am in desperate need of your help!
my powerseats are not working and I cannot find a clear answer on how to fix it. everything else is working (door light is not on..). sounds like it may be the relay? both seats were working on&off again and now they will not move AT ALL! Please help. I dont trust nor can I afford going to a mechanic. they'll charge me through the roof! I have to sell my car asap and need to have this fixed before. jen |

Would you consider buying the relay to see if that fixes the problem?
I attached a picture of the relay. There is no guarantee that is the fix but it is a good place to start. If you want a picture of the trunk where the relay sits let me know and I'll take a picture tomorrow. The relay is an easy repair, attempt to locate it and then reply back if you have found it. |

Sure I'll start with the relay! Correct me if I'm wrong but most of the seat problems are 95% from the relay correct?
I have taken off the carpeted cover in the trunk but still cant find exactly where its at. I know its probably right underneath my nose! Is this something I can order from Napa Auto Parts or Auto Zone? |

The other thresd where you posted this question is very detailed about this problem. Ethan has some posts there that are extremely detailed with the part number and exact directions to find the relay. Did you read the entire other thread, including all of Ethans posts? All the information you need is there. You can get the relay from the dealer or by calling Phil on this site.

If you removed the carpet then you also need to remove the plastic lid that cover the rear one/third of the trunk floor.
It uses three screws that come out with a philips screw driver and a little upward pressure on the plastic lid while unscrewing. a. the first picture is the lid that needs to be removed, notice the three depressions. When replacing they go over the threaded screws that stick up. b. second picture shows lid removed and the relay circled in yellow. SECOND PICTURE IS IN THE FOLLOWING POST BELOW tips: note how the plastic lid tabs fit before you remove, you may need to use a credit card when you release the relay out of it's plug - the credit card would press out the plastic tab on the sides that hold the relay in place. |

It works!!!
***SPECIAL THANKS TO ETHAN!!*****************
Got the relay. replaced it and the seats now work! I cant thank this site enough and all of the helpful people! I spent $35 to replace the part. God knows how much i would have been charged if I had to take it in to a repair shop. There was NO way I could afford it! jenjenstar |
