Cost of cats

My E320 coupe failed its annual emission test this year and I need a new cat. MB in the UK charge (parts only) £1100 + 17.5% sales tax thats well over $2000 in the US. Out of curiosity how much is a new cat in the US and how much would a reliable after-market one cost?
