Manual idle control 190E 2.3
I recently had a mechanic get my old 88 190E 2.3 up and running again after it had been on blocks for 4 years. He said that he'd set the idle high for awhile but after I'd driven the car a bit I could lower it back down myself. He marked the page in the Haynes manual I left on the rear seat to the page that describes how this is done. I looked at this page yesterday and am pretty baffled! It looks like there is a way to set the resting position of the throttle linkage...but Haynes shows the adjustment being made inside the car. I look inside where the throttle linkage goes through the fire wall and find no adjustable parts! I know that the party line here is that the idle is computer controlled. Does somebody out there know how an abnormally high idle might be manually set (and lowered)?
Thanks
Steve
