Resetting the maintenance indicator 2007 C230

I recently purchased a used 2007 Mercedes C230 with 18K miles for a great price, not knowing the the outrageous maintenance cost. Shame on me. This is my first MB. My investment doesn't justify spending $500 for an oil change. Are these cars that sensitive that they require all of the checks and inspections? Anyway, I got my oil changed at a reputable service center using Mobile 1 snythetic and MB filters for $88. I've searched the web on how to reset the maintenance indicator and nothing works. I've gotten to the voltage screen, but there is not a maintenance screen in this area. Anyone have any ideas besides getting the car serviced by Mercedes and paying $500?

You might try this....it's for a 2006 C230:

"Just completed the B service tonight on my 2006 C230 and reset the service timer. 25,600 miles

Note:
When the timer is approximately 500 miles from service, the display will post a reminder for five seconds each time you turn on the ignition counting down by 100 mile increments until it reads 'service B is due'.

Step
1. Step into car, shut the door and turn on the ignition, Position 2. Do not crank/start engine. On this step, the service due message will post. Allow five seconds to pass until normal/regular information display is shown.

2. I then pushed the up arrow button on steering wheel to display service interval. It read 'Service B is due now'.

3. Push reset button(also serves as dasboard dimmer dial) left of temp gauge for several seconds. Service display will then show press for 3 seconds to reset timer. After three seconds with finger on reset button, timer will reset. Mine read 'Service A 13,000 miles'."

service reset

We have a 2000 SLK-230. Is there a procedure that will work on this car to re-set the service notice?

thanks

It should be in your owners manual. This is from my 2001 SLK230 owners manual:

1. Turn key in steering lock to position 2

2. Within 4 seconds press button (1) twice, this is the button to the left of the speedometer.

3. The present status for days or distance is displayed. Within 10 seconds turn key in steering lock to position 0.

4. Press and hold button (1), while turning key to position 2 again. The present status for days or distance is displayed once more. Continue to hold button (1).

After approx. 10 seconds a signal sounds, and the display shows 10,000 miles (Canada: 15,000 km) for approx. 10 seconds.

5. Release button (1).

*NOTE* Some people have problems resetting their FSS, you have to follow the intructions exactly for the FSS to reset.

Used car dealerships around here call that a Polish oil change.
No offense to Polish guys.

Glad it worked, make sure you keep the instructions with your service records so you'll have it the next time you service your car. Don't forget to change the air filter often and also the cabin filter.

Also, thanks for posting the results.
