ever hear of a block testing kit

just browsing info on blown head gaskets in toyota supras and i came across a reference to a block tester kit. it is used to analyze coolant for the existence of exhaust gas and allegedly positively id's a blown head gasket. i was wondering if anyone had ever used this on w124's with the prone 104 engine. will it yield the same sort of result?
