Chasing Lighting Gremlin

Some of the interior button lights stay on all the time (the driver's seat light memory light, the shifter light, the rear dome light button light (but not the dome light itself) and the rear headrest button light.

They stay on whether the light switch is on or off. Whether the key is in or out of the ignition.

I pulled the dash buttons and the dome light but it had no effect. the rest of the lights stay on. i did not disconnect the seat or shifter lights yet.

its mysterious and annoying so any clues might be helpful.

headlight switch is brand new. replaces since this problem manifested. so its not that.

btw, perhaps i should mention i have an issue with my seatbelt relay because the driver's side puddle light and the front dome light do no go on when the drivers side door is open, but do when the passenger's is. I never bothered to fix it.

Could it be that? or the lighting relay? or the lighting control unit? In talking with Jeremy5848 he thought it was probably one of those.

any seconds on this would be appreciated before I start buying hundred of dollars worth of relays...maybe its just a ground, but i cant figure out where the ground for those are.

but this problem is new.

Sorry, I never figured out what was causing it, but I used to have a "well abused" 1982 BMW 733i that did the same thing. The power windows and the lights on the console were always illuminated. I had to keep the battery disconnected when I was not driving it.

I sold that car for $700. I was glad to see it go. Never did figure out what was wrong with it. HVAC did not work, computer command controls were on the fritz, radio wires were chopped up, etc. They had obviously shorted out some wiring, causing the rest of the electrical system to go bonkers.

Hope you figure it out. I know that has to be frustrating.
