94 E420 both wheels spin?

Hi, i have a 1994 E420. i have the car jacked and all 4 wheels are not touching the ground. On the rear driver side, I have the wheel removed and on the rear passenger side the wheel is attached. I turn the car on and go into Drive. I notice that the driver side (with no wheel) will spin while the passenger side (with the wheel) will not spin. Also, this is with no acceleration. Why does this occur? Is there something wrong with my differential?

Your diff is fine, your car simply has an open (non-limited slip) diff so that's how it behaves. If you were to hold the pass side wheel, you'd see the driver's side turning :-)
