remedial help on a 1985 380sl

I am not a mechanic and I don't even play one on tv but I am able to understand instructions if somebody cares to help.

1985 380sl w 245k miles will not start.

I do have good fuel volume.

Checking with a timing light, I do not have spark from the coil (which is new).
The ignition control unit and green wire are borrowed from a running 380sl so they are good.

The next ? I'm guessing is whether I am getting power to the coil. Where do I start and where do I go from there?

Thank you.
