Euro 123 with rear fogs on whenever lights on
My 1985 250 (123 euro) has lit rear fogs whenever headlights or parking lights are lit. Headlight switch in inmost position. Is this normal?

Re: Euro 123 with rear fogs on whenever lights on
I can only speak for my 190e. The parking lights and the headlights turn on by turning one or two clicks clockwise. If I pull the headlight knob out once, the fog lights in front come on. One more pull, and the fog lamps in back come on in addition to the front ones.
For my car, the fog lamps do not come on automatically when the headlights come on. You said that the knob is in the innmost position. Maybe there is a wire shorted out in the knob or something like that? I'm not too technical, but thought this might be helpful to start you off. Thanks. |

I am curious about the problem possibly being that the light switch has been replaced with a US switch. They are different.
Have a great day, |

Larry,
thats interesting what you say about the switch replacement, as on Euro Right hand drive models, i.e here in the UK. To switch the parking lights on, the switch has to be moved one or two clicks anti (counter?) clockwise. Turning clockwise turns the side lights and headlights on respectivly. One click out and the front fogs are on, 2 clicks out and the rear fogs are on..with the orange light in the actualy switch illuminated as well. Maybe the change of the switch has caused the problem, as the fogs are automatically cancelled when the lights are switched off. |
