Blowing Fuse #4, Running on a few cylinders

Heard there were a few briliant minds here in this forum. Well, I have a good one for you...

I parked my 1995 SL 500 in the garage, then the next day went to start it, and it blew Fuse #4 [proximity switch/control unit seat adjustment (mirror and jacket tube adjustment)].

It did start up but it seems to be running on only a few cylinders as it has no power to do anything but barely run.

A dealer told me it could be the Voltage regulator sticking open (and putting out 40v). I changed the voltage regulator and it did not fix the problem.

Any ideas?
