Air Cabin Filter removal

How do I remove the Air cabin filter on a 2000 c280? I noticed sounds comming from the ac when I turned the wheel and I opend the vents and saw the cabin filter has tons of rips in it. How did that happin? I need to remove it and replace it. It also makes a poping sound when I turn the AC off.

The link in the above post is information for a 2007 C-class, which is a W203 body, which is not the same as a 2000 C-class (last year of the W202).

The cabin filter in my 2000 C230 is located under the dash on the passenger side of the car. Remove the plastic kick panel above the passengers legs and its right there, takes about 5 minutes to change.

I'm not sure what the original poster is seeing when he mentions that he can 'see the filter and there are tons of tears in it'.... the cabin filter is way down by the blower and you certainly can't see it by looking into any of the air outlets.

Sorry!!! I thought 2000 was the first W203. So then his car is the same as mine and yours. Yes, above the passengers feet.

Yes, there is no way you can see the filter looking in the vents. Don't know what you are seeing. Check the filter and make sure it is there. I have never heard of one falling apart. I suppose a little mouse could get in there and chew it up???

PS: I deleted my previous incorrect post.
