1997 C280 Oil Drip
Hello. Just completed an oil change a few days ago and noticed that the plastic engine protector had some oil on it. After looking at the bottom of the engine closer, I noticed oil coming from an unknown part below the alternator and from the 1 to 2 o'clock position of the oil pan.
I haven't had the time to get the car on the jacks and FORGOT to write the part number down of the part below the alternator. All I know is that it was a Bosch part. Was curious if anyone know off hand what that part was or if this is a common problem with the C280. It's a 1997 with 86000 and has the "new" design head gasket that was done around 63000. Thanks so much! Rich |

Oil Leak on C-280
I noticed the same problem on my 1996 C-280. The air pump is below the alternator. My problem seems to be a leaking oil pan gasket. I have not confirmed that, but there is no source in the area. Have you confirmed your leak source?

Old thread, but what ended up being the culprit?
