280e starting problem

I have a 1979 280E fuel injection it starts good in the morning. and runs great but when I shut it off and leave it set for awhile it will not start like its not getting gas if I take the air breather off and push down on the this flapper cylinder looking thing under the air breather it will start right up how do I fix this problem or what is the problem so that I can take it too a mech. too fix

have you tried cleaning the "flapper" area and the inner nating surface? they are also adjustable, yours may not be correctly adjusted, i believe the correct value is .002in maybe wrong, but that value comes to mind. if the flapper is not phsically binding i have seen the fuel accumulator cause similar issues.

thnks

hey thnks not for sure wht that flapper does but I guess it is important do I just wipe it down or do I clean it with something special. Guess I prob. should take it too a merc. mech... I live in Purcell OK. if you know of anyone in this area please let me know.
