differential W124 4Matic
Anyone know if the differential on the W124 4Matic cars has the hydraulic locking mechanism (like ASD on the diesels), or if it is just the limited slip core?
I'm still trying to find a used ASD diff for my 95 E300 (or a shop within a few 100 miles from Baltimore), and am trying to think outside the box. Dave |

Wow....I read that, thats a pretty clever/sweet setup.....simple yet effective. I can see how it hurts mileage though, with the additional weight of the front wheels/transaxle and drive shafts on take off and such.

It really sucks to drive in serious winter conditions though. Too slow to react, times out and has to slip periodically to re-engage, I drove mine for several years, when it was really bad out the 4matic sat in the garage and I drove the quattros or the H1.
