HFM Scanner (For 111 and 104?) by Misha...

Hello All,
I am attaching HFMScanner software programmed by Misha from Russia, I am posting on behalf of Misha since English is not his primary language.

This software allows you

1) Read ECU info
2) Read and Erase Error Codes.
3) Monitor LiveData.
4) Plot O2 graph.
5) Code ECU's (Note: This is done on request, since code still alpha).
6) It could work with PMS also, if someone with PMS engine can help out Misha.

You have your own HHT/DAS for free, you just need a K-Line(ISO9141) interface to connect your car and PC

I am using Chinese Carsoft interface which was lying around, Misha had to do some minor modification to get HfmScan working with Carsoft interface.

Below are some screen shots...

You can download the software from hfmscan.e.zip

Please thank Misha for all his hard work. Thanks to the Internet and the end of the Cold War, we can all benefit from his experience and knowledge.

Phantomlord, you and Misha are "The Man" !

This is just what I've been looking for!
I've been limited to the blink codes until now and have been craving for more information like this..

Now, one question you or Misha might be able to answer;

I'm currently building a K-line interface (to RS232)
http://www.skpang.co.uk/content/view/18/36/

Would this be able to talk to "HFMScanner" directly?

I have one 1995 E220 (111.960) and one 1995 E320 (104.992), both with the 16-pin diag connector. If I understand this correctly - you hook up pin 1+16 for power supply to the interface and the "K-link data signal" to pin 8 (HFM) ?
Just simple as that?

Just dying to get this to work!

Best regards,
Lars.

Loving them both, but the 320 is more fun...

Where could one buy the cable?? I have an S320, and a 300 sdl. Don't think the sdl has the hookup though.

If you are not good at electronics just get one of the cheap Chinese MB carsoft interface from ebay http://motors.shop.ebay.com/_Automotive-Tools__carsoft_W0QQ_fxdZ1QQ_ptasZ1QQ_trksidZm39

Advantage is you will get cable for all possible MB's.

Kudos to Misha for developing this. I would love to get this working. Could you provide some more information on the connection/interface between the laptop and the 16 pin diagnostic connector.

Thanks,

J. M. van Swaay

Looks like MB carsoft interface clones have vanished from ebay.com, but I can see some listed in ebay.co.uk. Just search for "carsoft mercedes" there.

FYI: The Chinese Carsoft clones from eBay DO NOT WORK with LH injection, although they claim it does, and there are menu options for it. I bought two different setups and screwed with them for weeks with my LH cars. It won't show any live data on LH systems, and at best only shows analog codes. It wouldn't communicate with most of the computer systems at all. Total waste of money. You are better off (seriously) with an LED blinker box! I don't know if Carsoft is any better with HFM or not, I didn't have an HFM car to test it on. The Carsoft clones work pretty well on later models with ME injection, or at least quite a few people have reported good results with it.

For the LH cars (1992-1995 models with M119 & M120 engines), the only inexpensive setup I know of that will communicate digitally and show live data is the SnapOn MT-2500 with MB 2003 cartridge & cables. That's what I have, and despite a few annoying bugs, it works well enough for my needs. Click here to view a PDF file showing the 100+ live data elements available with the MT-2500 setup.

Strange that all the cheap multiplexer interfaces have vanished off eBay. None of them mentioned Carsoft, and some didn't even include the software. Weird...

The Chinese Carsoft clones from eBay DO NOT WORK for HFM injection also, you just can read codes with no live data. But HFM Scanner shows live data with same Chinese Carsoft clones.

HFM Scanner does not need Carsoft interface, its only a short cut if can't rig or obtain a K-Line(ISO9141) interface.
