Timing cover gasket dilemma and a hissing noise. 97 E320 M104.
My head sits .075"(1.9mm) higher thanks to a gasket spacer I used to lower compression. The timing cover seal is too thin and oil flows out of the passenger side corner moderately. How should I go about solving this problem? I was thinking of building up the gasket with ultra black RTV, letting it dry, then putting an thin wet layer over top and in the necessary spots.
The car now makes a loud hissing noise under the front half of the intake. It is kind of audible inside of the car if you listen for it at idle. The car seems to run just fine. When the car is shutdown the hissing noise sort of makes a short, rubbery screech noise like a bad acc. belt stopping.
