89 300TE tried to use my turn signal and all I get is a humming sound coming from the dash, doesnt matter left or right, the emergency flasher works. Is there a relay and where might it be located???

Turn Signals
This may help! I had a similar problem and it turned out to be what this post covered.
http://www.mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w124/273097-blinkers-temp-gauge-wipers.html Cost about $60 to replace! |

Turn Signals!
I assume you checked the obvious already? Take all the bulbs out and check them to be sure. Check the connections along with the fuse. Could still be the relay if everything else checks out OK! Doesn't sound like the combination switch (lever) but you never know!

Turn signals!
Oh, I forgot!
Here is a quick check to see if your combination relay is bad. Take out the relay and shake it. If you hear something rattling inside, it is bad. What happens is a soder joint or a metal piece fails and falls apart. Any rattling is a sign the entire relay needs to be replaced. There are three relays inside! If you are really handy, you can try to repair the relay yourself like the gentleman did in the original post. I thought about it but decided it wasn't worth it. It could have been an easy fix but other joints were prone to failure too! |
