Exclamation 1987 300e

I just bought a 1987 300E and it is running like it has water in the gas. What it does is run out well, when I stop at a redlight when I go to take off it will not go and almost goes dead. It will do this going down the road sometimes, when I let off the gas and apply again it will pick back up.
Also it shifts into rev hard unless i have the brakes on hard, really pushed.
Any ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Also I let someone talk me into using "Seafoam" for my Benz. Was this stupid or OK?
