Thanks Jeff! Unfortunately I own the eldest year, 1986! You mentioned that the liner will be tucked in the back window...does this mean that your screwed when you want to tuck it back in? I noticed around the sunroof that the lining is glued etc but with a bit of patient persuasion I think I can do it without ripping it to shreds. I bought a brand new cable after literally fishing out all of those little round sections of plastic stuck in my tube when I ripped the old cable out, NIGHTMARE! Thanks so much for the help!

I believe the liner can be put back if needed. Just don't tear it..

I'd find a good dentless repair guy and see if he's willing to put it in. If you've got it down that far- a new liner might not be a big deal.

True, however, being a young college student I am prone to being very stubborn when it comes to "outsourcing" the labor on my car . I assume if I am able to coax the lip of lining pinched under the rear window I could wedge it back in with a blunt flat plastic spreader, possibly a decal or autobody soft plastic type. This is under the assumption that there is not industrial quality glue cementing that rear lip into place as I would have certainly no room to reapply such adhesive. The liner is currently in quite good condition. I really give Mercedes alot of praise for their spledid use and engineering of interior materials. Seems to outlast every other car on the road, MB Tex included!
