Angry 126 front end hysterics

Last summer the right guide rod mount went south on my '84 300SD and it developed a clunking noise in right front end. I took it to the dealer and it was replaced. Car was fine for about a month.
Then the sound appeared on the drivers side. The dealer replaced the mount on the left side. Car was fine for 3 days. Noise returned and I took it back to the dealer who replaced the ball joints and the steering damper. That lasted for 1 day. Now the dealer says that the front end needs rebuilt (what's left after the stuff they replaced? ). The bill?......about $1500.

I need opinions here. Let me know what you'd do!
