what's that black mb sealer

i 've seen references to this for sealing up the timing chain cover. is it some permatex like product and can i get it from the dealer? i'm having my head gasket and timing chain cover done on my 93 300e-2.8 at my local indy and will ask him to use the stuff.

BTW, i've seen references to this job being done as a "courtesy service" under 100k. i have 53k right now, can anyone up here in ny-nj verify this?
