W126 91 300SE fog light switch
 

I have a US spec 91 300SE. Should a light come on on the knob when I engage the fog lights or rear fog? There's an orange button at the center of the knob. I think I remember that the light came on in an older nonUS W123, but I don't remember if it came on with the fog lights or rear fog.

If it needs a bulb, do I yank out the knob to gain access or is there a release of some sort?

I have a U. S. spec '91 300-SEL - same as yours except for some rear leg room.

I had to replace the headlight switch a few yrs. ago. The knob with the orange spot in the center pulls straight off.

The new switch did not contain any sort of illumination bulb and it was a dealer item. The knob merely connects to a stem protruding from the headlight switch. I suppose that at one time MB offered lighting for this light switch position. The headlight switch came with a new knob that did not contain the orange spot in the center. I reused the original knob.

Not sure about a "rear" fog light.

In my 1989 UK 300SE, the fog light light(?) on the switch does light up orange.
If you pull it out once it is your front fogs, and if you pull it out a second notch it is your front and rear and the orange light glows.
