126 "click"

Here's a new one..I think... as I couldn't find anything on this. My 87 560 sel makes a clicking sound from underneath the car, usually coming up from underneath the shifter panel. It usually only makes this sound when I am stopped at a light or in park. It makes the sound when the engine is running or shut off. Usually just one loud click every 3 or 4 stops. Any ideas.

As well, I have variuos oil leaks right now. The car has 162k on it and I am sure the rear main is leaking. But it is also leaking from the head as the burning oil creates some smoke on the hot engine. I see no oil in the coolant and the car is running well aside from a small engine shake at idle. Is this pressing or should I just watch the oil levels and continue to add more oil. A buddy of mine said instead of a repair, $3000 will buy alot of oil.
