W124 won't go into gear
I see lots of threads here about cars that won't shift from second into third on cold days, but my car won't leave park.
Last week was very cold in Ontario - minus 30 or worse three nights in a row. Still pretty chilly. After warming and charging the battery I did get the car to start and let it idle for 45 minutes. When I finally went out to move it it wouldn't shift into reverse, neutral or any forward gear. After renting a PT Cruiser for the weekend (whose only redeeming feature was that it started, unlike my 1991 300E) I fired up the W124 today and still have the same problem. Now I'm a little more concerned since we've had 3 days of a balmy minus 10 to minus 20. Has anyone else seen this? Will warm weather put me back in action or am I looking at big $ for a transmission?
