W140 thermostat replacement

I need a quick DIY advice for getting to the thermostat. that bottom 10MM bolt is a bbb???tch to get to. I Am just trying to replace the thermostat.

Any procedures recommended? Remove the coupleing hose first? etc. I can see that bolt but have no room to work. Can't get to it from below as far as I can see. Can't get a ratchet on it from the top.

Can't find anything on the forum.

Been there done that! Pull the coupling hose off ( you will most likely destroy it in the process so make sure you have a new one ) and use a wobble socket or a u-joint. Pulling the bolt out of the dipstick tube support helps a bit too.

BTW, getting the old thermostat out is the easy part. It took me longer to get the new coupling hose back on that it did for the whole rest of the job. Just take your time and keep everything well lubricated.
